Use this procedure to create worker nodes that you can manage with the Global Controller.
- Ensure that bare metal servers and virtual machines are available and reachable from the Global Controller.
- Ensure that worker node servers and virtual machines are accessible over the network using the common user account (installer) that was created on all nodes.
- Gather the IPv4 addresses and installer with sudo credentials of the bare metal servers and virtual machines.
- Install NTP on the worker node server before adding the node to the Bare Metal Orchestrator cluster. In an Ubuntu or Debian Linux distribution, you can run
apt-get install ntp
on the worker node as root to install NTP. - The following systemd Linux distributions were tested on the bare metal servers and virtual machines:
- Ubuntu 20.04LTS
- Debian 11
- To manage a server at the remote site, the network that the server is on must be routable to the primary network of the worker node or routable to the primary network of the Global Controller site.
- A user account with passwordless sudo privileges configured, see Enable and disable passwordless sudo privileges.
